If you could imagine yourself in your “favorite place” would that be somewhere outside, in nature? No wonder! We have an innate, genetically-determined human need to create a home with nature. To live in a home infused with nature is essential, not simply decoration. If you had a choice to design and furnish your home in a manner that is specifically designed to raise your serotonin level, lower your blood pressure, help you focus and be creative among a myriad of other benefits, or not, which would you choose? Either could be brilliantly designed and furnished with the most beautiful, high-quality and appropriate elements. But only the principles of biophilic design will provide you the experience of belonging, of being connected and truly feeling “at home”. You are nature, and deserve to enjoy a home with nature’s numerous benefits.
Stacey Lapuk, ASID
Have you noticed, particularly with Covid, a feeling of being disconnected? You’re working in your “box”, and ache to take a walk outside. Staring at Zoom you feel the need to breathe, the need to be by a lake, or walking in the woods. You look around your room and realize it’s a space to hold furniture, that’s all. We’ve never been less connected. We try to reach out to one another digitally, but end up feeling ever more lonely and isolated.
I fell in love with biophilic design because it made me feel great. As soon as I understood how to implement its proven benefits, and how much better my clients felt when living in a space infused with the principles of biophilic design, I began to implement these patterns and systems in all of my clients’ projects, designing a home with nature, no matter the style. Whether your taste is for contemporary design, ultra-modern, transitional, organic, farm style, traditional, neo-classic, whatever - it doesn’t matter. To live with the particular patterns and systems of nature that have been proven to make you feel at your best, to thrive at the top of your game, is to live in happiness. To wake up every morning with your serotonin flowing, in a beautiful and functional space is pure joy that I have cultivated for my clients,
with my commitment to the principles of biophilic design.
Do you know that feeling of “wow” when you see a house that feels amazing? Your energy vibrates higher. Your feel-good hormones are racing. The shapes, colors and textures, the lighting - all of it feels like a glass of champagne.
That’s the feeling of a home designed with excellence, creativity, authenticity and a connection to the environment. A home that’s a reflection of who you truly are; at one with nature.
